El Molino de los Abuelos is situated in the main square of Comares and commands panoramic views of the Axarquía region of Andalucia, from the 2000m high Sierras to the sea 25km away beyond Vélez-Málaga.
The hotel was first built in the 19th century and has later been renovated and modernised, but still keeping its original character - like the traditional use of the olive mill.
The grandfather of the current owners of "El Molino de los abuelos" settled in this village at the beginning of the1900s by building an olive mill in the original style of Comares: Axarquico. Later the building was inherited by his daughter and is at this moment the property of two of his granddaughters (Maribel and Pilar Hermoso); this explains the name of the hotel (Molino de los abuelos – mill of the grandparents). Fifty years ago the olive mill was still in use, however, it had to close its doors and the building was no longer maintained. Many years later the family decided to restore this building and open it to the public as a restaurant “so people could admire this wonder" and at the same time it would provide an income for the upkeep of this marvellous old mill. |

Nowadays the hotel and restaurant is run by a Dutch-Colombian couple: Nenno Felius and Iván Marin. They started on 1st of May 2008 - their main objective to present this typical Spanish building to the people by keeping its character and combine it with the wishes of the tourist: a cosy hotel with an excellent kitchen in a friendly atmosphere.
Besides the 6 rooms in the hotel, and the restaurant (situated in the old olive factory), there is a bodega and a patio with a wondeful view.
